I’m Forrest! I’m autistic, with my special interest being baking! Ever since I made cookies for the first time, I’ve been obsessed with it. I started baking at 7-years-old and knew immediately that it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. To open my own café/bakery requires lots of experience and funds. The only way to get that is through a job, of course! However, being autistic made having a job very difficult. So many overstimulating qualities, difficulty scheduling around appointments, ridiculed for being different, lack of other neurodivergent employees to turn to. I felt like I was hopeless. I began thinking that there was no way I was the only person being stuck in this rut. And with that came the idea that I had to fix this issue! Now, my dream café is so much more than some ordinary café. This entire website, everything I’ve worked for, all my social media, it’ll all be for a disability friendly café. A place where both customers and employees feel heard. A place where no one will feel hopeless. It will be a lengthy and difficult journey, but I want nothing more than to dedicate everything I have into my baking and my future café. I hope, with every treat I sell, those who receive it taste my hope. I put pride in everything I do, and soon the world will see that pride. Hopefully, even the pride of hundreds of others right beside me :)
